Greenbank and Welton this afternoon showed the true spirit of football can unite a community at a time of need.
They played out a coaches game at NK, Greenbank running out 6-4 winners.
But the real winner today was a superb amount of money raised for Drew Wilkinson’s family.
Drew was a coach of a Welton team. Tragically, he lost his life in a car accident in September, leaving behind his long term partner, Tracey, and two boys, Logan and Cobi.
The two teams decided to arrange a match between coaches and managers, to raise the family some funds, as a way of helping them through this tough time.
We are delighted to say, that a total of £550 has been raised. This will be passed to Drew’s family over the weekend.
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all that helped arrange this, as well as all in attendance.
